I am firstly a Pediatric Nurse and the self published author of a children’s book called “Just Like You”. I was born on the Island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In 2001 I traveled to the United Kingdom to live with my Dad for a better life and future. It wasn’t the easiest transition to say the least. I continued my Primary School Education in London where I was looked at strangely when I spoke. It was like I was speaking another language. My Vincentian accent was thick and fast. To me I was speaking English but to them I was from a different world. I eventually learnt how to slow my words down and enunciate my words.

I wrote “Just Like You” because my hope is that every child that reads “Just Like You” can identify themselves in the characters of the book.

Just Like You is an interactive diverse children's book. It features a number of characters with different cultures and races, including an Indian, East African, Spanish, Irish and Polish, engaging in a variety of activities. "Just Like you" promotes equality and diversity and shows that despite our differences ,we're all quite similar. It encourages children to look past the physical side of people. The aim of this book is for children to learn to look at people from the inside and realise that even though they all look different and enjoy different things, in their hearts they are all “Just Like You".
