Especially, not at the age of thirty. But, when you allow fear to overpower your ability of loving someone and being loved, this is what happens and she knows it. After a long week of double shifts and being on-call, Olivia is able to pull herself together and celebrate her best friend's engagement. The night's going great until, Olivia, notices a figure watching her from the other side of the room. She begins panicking and collapses into the arms of, David King. David, is a man who knows what he wants and is fortunate to be in a position to get it. He knows that, Olivia, was created to be in his life. But, Olivia, on the other hand, fears that, David, is just too good to be true and has a difficult time getting out of her own head, and allowing him take control. Once, Olivia, is finally able to let her guard down and allows herself to love and be loved, their world is completely shattered, and nothing could have ever prepared them- for their tomorrow.
Review: I received this book in March and wish I had read it sooner! Took only a day and a half to get through this romantic, drama filled, suspenseful novel. I have to admit that when I read the description of the book I wasn't nearly interested as I was during my read. I'm a hopeless romantic and I was (and still am) fully invested into this novel - even after the author gut punched me with more suspense than I was ready for. If you're the kind of person that needs to grab a glass of wine before you read, get the bottle and get comfortable.
Luckily, my children were gone for the day with family so I was able to finish in no time.
The book centers around the two main characters, Olivia and David, their testament of love and loyalty, and their erotic, dangerous relationship. I only say dangerous because their life gets turned upside and sideways by jealousy and revenge. When I read the warning for explicit language I was only expecting some profanity here and there... I wasn't ready!
The author wasted no time getting to the thick of it. There is no 6-7 chapter build up. You get right into it!
I love these two characters. I like the flow of the conversation. The reader will read one character's viewpoint (mainly Olivia's) and into the next sentence and chapter with another character.
For instance, at the end of Chapter 5 Olivia says, "he carries me up with ease up the stairs, down the hall, and into his bedroom." Chapter 6 begins with David, "I walk inside my bedroom, enjoying the firm grip she had on my shoulders." As much as I adore Olivia - because she reminds me of myself, a bit of a skeptic - the picture I have in my mind of David is so vivid. He's attentive, and humorous, but direct, and no nonsense. David's relationship with his brother is rocky, so a life with Olivia and her close knit family and friends was just what he needed. I got lost in this love story and loved it!
But the cliffhanger....I honestly felt frustrated because it was the end. But then I remembered..."It's a book series." Up next is the 2nd book, Yesterday!!
Yesterday will release May 25, 2019.
I would recommend this book if you've been in a reading slump, if you love urban fiction, or if you need to add some spice to your life. If you are a fan of Zane books or The Coldest Winter ever...grab this!!
